We kicked off our 2018/2019 C3Women’s ministry year at our Fall Gathering in October. Cider and donuts, autumn-themed decorations and warm fellowship abounded that night. Using Scripture and personal stories, Gail Blauuw and Tracy Jewell introduced our theme, “Re-Imaged in Christ: A Holy Calling.” Gail invited us to consider the following questions to help us reflect on our own pursuit of holiness.

Reflecting on her life before and after coming to Christ, Tracy posed the following three questions from Sinclair Ferguson’s book, Devoted to God.

  • Whose are you?
  • Who are you?
  • What are you for?

Tracy’s answer, reflecting her life before she was a Christian, was “I was for myself, for the advancement of my kingdom, a kingdom of one, whatever was in my best interest, whatever brought me pleasure.”

But God says we aren’t our own, we have been purchased, we are a new creation, created in holiness for God’s glory.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body.  I Cor. 6:19-20

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  2 Cor. 5:17

Whether you were able to join us that evening or not, we would encourage you to take some time to ponder both sets of questions. If you’d like to explore these concepts about growing in holiness—reflecting God in your life, feel free to contact C3W and someone will follow up and start that conversation.
