Early Childhood – Sunday Morning
In this pandemic season, our ministries look different than normal, please contact the ministry leader for current information.
September through May, we offer care for children during the Worship Service (9:30–10:45 AM) and Christian Education hour (11:15–12:15 PM).
June through August, we offer care for children during the Worship service only (9:30–11:00 AM).
Our Nursery (infants) program provides a comfortable and safe atmosphere as well as playful stimulation to the babies in our care.
Our Toddler 1 (age one and walking) and Toddler 2 (age 2) programs begin to introduce children to the foundations of God, through the Heart Shapers teaching and singing time.
Our Toddler 3 (age 3) program provides a more in-depth Bible story and craft.
Our Check-in process
Our staff includes program coordinators and committed volunteers who rotate on a weekly basis and can be identified by their nametags. A greeter will be available to receive your child and take any special instructions. We ask that all children be signed in and out, and all belongings be labeled clearly. Parents of children ages birth – three years will receive a vibrating pager which serves to notify parents if needed. It also serves as parent verification when children are picked up at the end of the morning.
We invite parents to consider serving in children’s ministries after three months of regular attendance at Knox. We then ask those interested to complete a brief application with references, and to attend our “Policy and Procedures” training class. After six months at Knox, parents may begin to serve. We do not require that parents volunteer in our Early Childhood programs. But we do strongly suggest that at least one parent be available once a month for one year or weekly for one semester. Serving in the nursery or toddler programs allows a parent to see how his/her child relates to others and to better understand the program Knox offers your child. This is also a great way to meet other parents, and makes it possible for others to attend worship or adult education classes.
