Our Programs

September through May, we offer care for children during both the Worship Service (9:30–10:45 AM) and the Christian Education hour (11:15–12:15 PM).

June through August, we offer care for children during the Worship service only (9:30–11:00 AM).

baby looking at book with adultOur Nursery (infants – 24 months) program provides a comfortable and safe atmosphere and a weekly Bible story, as well as playful stimulation for the youngest children in our care.

Our Toddler (2- and 3 year-olds) program shares many familiar and some not-so-familiar Bible stories, songs, and simple crafts through the God Loves Me story book series.

Our Check-in process

Our staff includes program coordinators and committed volunteers who rotate on a weekly basis and can be identified by their name tags. A volunteer will be available to receive your child and take any special instructions. We ask that all children be signed in and out, and all belongings be labeled clearly. We use a double name tag system, with one pinned on the child’s back and one kept by the parent. This system also serves as parent verification when children are picked up at the end of the morning.

Parent Volunteers

We invite parents to consider serving in children’s ministries after six months of regular attendance at Knox. We then ask those interested to complete a brief application with references, read our “Policies and Procedures” manual, view a training video, and answer a few questions that review information from the manual and video. We do not require that parents volunteer in our Early Childhood programs, but we do strongly suggest that at least one parent be available once a month for one year or weekly for one semester. Serving in the nursery or toddler program allows parents to see how their children relate to others and to better understand the Early Childhood program Knox offers. Serving in the Nursery or Toddler room once a month is also a great way to meet other parents and makes it possible for other parents to attend worship or adult education classes.
