Stewardship ≠ Giving. It has more to do with what we have to work with after our offerings than with the part we give away. Stewards exercise authority, reckon with risk, work within limits and always have an eye toward the owner’s return. Stewardship begins with our own persons, reaching outward into the lives of others, and with others it is exercised over all of God’s creation. More than mere servants, stewards may even be friends, as Jesus says we are. All this, and more, as we explore a deep theme in Scripture that makes sense of much in our life.
