Over the past few months, issues of race and racial justice are front page issues. Clearly we have not become a post-racial society. Of course, how could we? Color blindness doesn’t make sense if the Creator God has made us racially, ethnically, and culturally specific persons. But when you talk about race, ethnicity, and culture, the question of racism is only steps behind. Racism is what tears at both the fabric of our nation and the fabric of the church. The cultural answer is inclusion and diversity – limited goods. But the gospel offers more – a unity in our diversity that really makes us one people.
