Dear Knox Family,
It has been a long time since we have been able to meet and worship together. We grieve this loss but look forward with anticipation to the time when we can once again worship in person. According to the latest by our government officials, we are in stage 4 of the Michigan Safe Start plan, meaning that groups are still limited to 10 for indoors and 100 for outdoors, with social distancing. However, the hope is that we will be moving into stage 5 by July 4, which would presumably allow for larger numbers.
Therefore, beginning the following weekend (Sunday, July 12), we will hold a live-stream service at 9:30, as well as an outdoor service at 11:00. The outdoor service would still require social distancing and would not be able to accommodate everyone in our congregation every week, (we would still make decisions on capacity based on whether we are in stage 4 or 5 at that point). In the next few weeks, you will be receiving more information about the outdoor service option and how we will manage who can come each week.
Decisions about reopening have involved navigating a broad range of information sources, preferences, directives, and options. We as a staff and Session are prayerfully and thoughtfully doing our best to create a plan that accommodates a diverse and extensive number of variables in a way that shows love and honor for others, (above the circumstances and) even above ourselves (Philippians 2:3-4). We expect to see many examples of the “gospel in play” as we make this transition together and we covet your prayers in the process.
Grace and peace,
