Getting a place to live after having no home is a blessing, but suddenly needing many household items is costly! Our Knox Deacons encourage us to bless those transitioning out of homelessness by partnering with Staples Center to send clients off with “Blessing Baskets”.
Staples Center in Ann Arbor is a ministry of the Salvation Army, a long-time Knox Community Partner. Staples is unique in that it offers short-term shelter for families and individuals in an environment that is much like a traditional home.
So, please purchase a few extra items when you shop this month and drop them off at the display table in the atrium. Supplies will be collected throughout the month of October.
Suggested items to donate:
- twin blanket
- twin comforter
- laundry basket
- laundry detergent
- multi-surface cleaner
- cleaning rags
- paper towels
- toilet bowl brush
- toilet bowl cleaner
- abrasive cleaner (e.g., Comet)
- dish soap
- dish scrubber (e.g., Brillo pads Choreboy)
- garbage bags
- dust pan
- reusable grocery bags
You don’t have to get them all, and generic is fine! Thank you for showering these people with the love of Christ.
