We have an opportunity to serve vulnerable children in the name of Jesus. The OAK (Orphan Care and Adoption at Knox) fellowship invites you to join us as we come alongside the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and other local social service agencies by hosting a foster parent Respite Day. This event is fun for the children and a gift for hardworking foster parents.
The Respite Day will be held at Knox on Saturday, December 1st, 11:00 AM-3:00 PM.
We are looking for volunteers 18 years and older to come and help care for the children (age 0-18), supervise craft stations, and help serve lunch. You can come for the whole day or half: Shifts run from 10:00-1:30 and 12:30-4:00. (Shifts include orientation and transition times.)
We would like to offer stations where people share their skill, craft, or interest with a child (e.g. making jewelry or cards, doing magic or card tricks, science demonstrations, watercolor painting, wood-working, etc). Please let us know if you have something you’d like to offer to enrich the life of a child.
We would also appreciate donations of non-messy, finger food snacks, especially vegetable and fruit trays.
Volunteers will also need to go through a background check. Please use the links below.
