How to give

Tithes / Offerings

As followers of Jesus, we give in response to the grace and generosity of God. Our giving is not a legalistic compulsion, but rather a cheerful offering. This “grace-giving” is generous, willing, God-directed, sacrificial, active, and motivated by love. Giving is an act of worship to the Lord, which is why we make space every Sunday for a public offering.

Stock/IRA Donations

Charitable giving is a blessing. There are a few ways to save on taxes with your contributions, which include your tithes and offerings to a church. You can gift appreciated stock to a charitable organization and avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value of the stock, plus receive a charitable donation deduction for the market value on the date of the donation.

Taxpayers age 70 1/2 or older can give directly from their IRAs and exclude this amount from their income. If you are interested in gifting stock or your IRA required minimum distribution, you should consult your financial advisor and contact Betty Clark, the Knox accountant.
