Transitional Pastor

Pastor Michael Payne has been serving as the Transitional Pastor at Knox since 2024. He will be helping Knox to rediscover our vision and mission before we embark on a search for a new Senior Pastor.

Michael has previously served as Senior Pastor of Union Evangelical Church in Mexico City, Mexico and at Taipei International Church in Taipei, Taiwan. He subsequently accepted the call to serve as Pastor of Lebanon EPC in Greenwood, VA, where he served until his retirement from full-time pastoral ministry at the end of 2021. He has also served as transitional pastor at churches in Montgomery, AL, Florence, SC, and Chattanooga, TN.

On any given Sunday, Pastor Michael can be found in front of the congregation giving a sermon, or "in the building, wandering around looking for people to talk to." Something not a lot of people know about Michael is that he has worked with Billy Crystal.

One thing Pastor Michael has come to love about Knox is the people that make up the church community.
