Children’s Ministry

Welcome to Knox Kids!

We are passionate about serving families. We desire to partner with you for the holistic formation of your kids, which is why we consider our children’s ministry as more than just childcare.

Our aim is to work alongside parents to show our kids the love that Jesus has for them, helping them to trust Him with their lives. We do this through Sunday worship, Bible teaching, fun activities, and intentional discipleship, all with loving and engaged volunteers.

Sundays

Sundays are the primary day that Knox Kids gather together to worship, learn from Scripture, pray, and meet one another.

Pre-K – Grade 6

We offer Children’s Worship for Pre-K to 1st Grade during worship service. Children start out with their families in the corporate worship service in the sanctuary, then those who would like to attend Children’s Worship are invited to do so midway through the service.

We also offer Children’s Christian Education after worship service. Our classrooms are a fun, safe, and engaging environment for every kid from Pre-K to 6th grade.

Infant – age 3

We offer care for infants through 3-year-olds during the Worship Service (9:30–11am) year-round, and during the Christian Education hour (11:15–12:15pm) fall to spring, in the Early Childhood wing.

Discipleship

We take our children’s faith journeys seriously. Here are some of the ways we shepherd them as they grow:

  • Children are taught basic concepts of faith starting at age 4, when they are welcomed into our children’s worship, which uses Montessori principles to help them understand who God is and how to worship him.

  • Also starting at 4, we offer Children’s Education classes where our volunteer teachers are trained to help them understand their faith. This culminates in the Profession of Faith class, where children are invited to be baptized and make a public profession of faith before their church family.

  • In 5th and 6th grade, children are invited to commit to following Jesus in a ministry we call “NorthStar,” which is designed to build a bridge from childhood to youth—spiritually, emotionally, and socially—through solid biblical study and opportunity to deepen friendships and develop leadership skills.

Special Blessings

Special Blessings is our ministry to children with disabilities. As the name suggests, we believe that children who have disabilities uniquely display the glory of God. We desire to come alongside these kids, enabling them to be integrated into our programs. When needed, we assemble a shepherd buddy team of four adults or mature teens, who take turns working one-on-one with a child within the context of our regular programs.

If you would you like to find out more about this ministry, please contact Gale Burrow, Early Childhood and Special Blessings Coordinator.
