The Vision Process at Knox
Current Updates
Notes from our most recent meeting
This past Sunday, the Vision team met for the third and final time to begin to brainstorm Knox’s vision, values and mission. We had remarkable unity around the core strengths of Knox that we hope to preserve and the ways in which we hope to grow. You can read detailed notes of our discussion time here.
Our final step before sending our proposal to Session is to draft a final statement, synthesizing everything the team discussed. Thank you for your continued prayers for this team and for this process.
The Process
Knox has many strengths and abilities to serve the kingdom of God. We have been through several visioning processes before, but this is an opportune moment to revisit our vision and clarify our calling for the next season at Knox that will help unite us as a church, reshape our leadership and finances, and recruit a new senior pastor.
This process will seek to align our abilities, affinities, and opportunities, unite us in a common mission and vision and an understanding of how to get there, and unleash Knox’s potential to have greater impact for God’s kingdom.
The Team
A group of 12 people, representing different demographic and leadership groups within the church, will meet to explore questions like, “When (and who) are we? What is our mission in Ann Arbor? What is our unique calling as a church?” This group will be commissioned during a church service and their findings will be well communicated to the church. Valerie Johnson will lead, with support from Clara Kim.
Where are we now?
We are currently in Phase 2.
As part of the transition we are in, we will be revisiting our vision and clarifying our calling for the next season at Knox. The resulting vision statement will be used to recruit a new Senior Pastor who is best equipped to lead us into that future, and to shape our future ministry initiatives.
Understanding Our Cultural Moment with Fred Bailey
Drawing from his decades of experience at Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Knox elder and Vision team member Fred shared his observations of our cultural moment and the challenges that presents for Christian evangelism and discipleship.
